Tesco grant for the junior section.

Last year the club was very fortunate to be invited to participate in a community funding scheme that was supported by Tesco. Shoppers in the Tiptree and West Mersea Tesco stores were invited to vote for their favourite local junior sports club sections (KFCC and two others).

As a result we were awarded a grant to be used for equipment needed by our junior section.

Hugo Bibby:

It takes a lot of balls to run a junior cricket section. I obviously mean tennis balls, kwik cricket balls, soft balls, practice balls, match balls and with the price of a junior cricket ball anywhere between £5 to £10 the cost quickly adds up. However this year thanks to a grant obtained from Tesco we’ve been lucky to have an additional £1,000 to spend not just on balls but everything from junior WK pads and gloves, batting gloves and kitbags to spring back stumps and first aid kits. It’s been great to add to coaching resources without having to worry about taking money out of a tight club budget.

Thanks have to go not only to Tesco but to Nick Cocks for doing all the paperwork securing the grant plus thanks to both the Essex Cricket Shop and Warsop Stebbing for supporting us with some excellent discounts.
