Kwik Cricket returns to Rye Mill Lane

Whilst Friday the 13th is not an auspicious date for some it was a welcome one for the club - it marked the reintroduction of kwik cricket nights at Rye Mill Lane!

It was a very good example of the meshing in of the old guard with the new.

There was a very significant representation from the current committee and a good number of colts parents made major contributions to the smooth running of the evening running the bar, sweet and cake stall, assisting with the barbecue and clearing up the equipment at the end of the evening.

Most importantly there were a large number of young cricketers having a whale of a time supported by the older colts who scored and umpired the games alongside the coaches reliving their own experience of Kwik Cricket while repaying a bit of the debt they owed their parents for taking them to tournaments in wet and freezing conditions. Fortunately the weather took pity on us even if the traffic gridlock as a result of the closure of the A120 did not.

This is by way of a massive thank you to everybody that helped make this a success, wives, mothers, grandparents and those who support the club in many different ways.

On the 4th September the club is hosting a day of cricket in support of the Feering School PTFA and on the 5th September we are running a wrap up session for the colts section.
