a welcome addition for the 2021 season

Some great news for everyone with the season about to get underway tomorrow.

We have a brand-new electronic scoreboard for the main ground that that has been installed onto the outside of the existing score-hut. It can be controlled from most parts of the ground so the scorers will no longer have to sit away from the clubhouse in the score hut if the scoreboard is in operation. A welcome boost for shivering scorers in the early part of the season (such as tomorrow!).

The club is enormously grateful to a generous benefactor for the funds to do this.

The old numbers equipment from the main ground is currently awaiting a frame to be built to allow it to be used on the second ground.

You may be intrigued by the score featured in the picture – the date was I believe the 10th of September 2011 and I doubt any of us will ever witness a better batting performance by the club. Malcolm Wilde (100no) and Will Shortridge (213no) dominated Bury St Edmunds resulting a final total of 387–2 off 45 overs. In reply Bury St Edmunds mustered just 142.

Finally a gentle reminder that adult registration and subscriptions are now due and they can be paid via the club website ('Shop' section). Many thanks to those of you who have already paid.
