Inspired by the KFCC 1st team’s success, the KFCC U12s and U14s have both won their respective indoor leagues finals this winter at the Colchester Sports Park.
KFCC U12 Final
In our final, we had an excellent and committed performance against a really good West Bergholt side. We batted first and put up a challenging total of 313, despite some strong bowling and fielding from West Bergholt. West Bergholt put pressure on our bowling first up in their innings. Our team stuck to it and played with a lot of energy in the field and pegged them back well. There were some excellent catches and run outs. West Bergholt fell just short on 293. It was a fantastic game played in good spirit.
Over the course of the season, we played 11 players and we asked the boys to play in different positions. We used four wicket keepers and numerous batting combinations. We coped with injuries. This was a real team effort and thank you to parents and players for their support. It bodes well for the outdoor season. A special thank you to Rumaan for his support and umpiring. He was a cool head as balls flew of ceilings and walls. Most of all, well done to the team.
KFCC U14 Final
Our final game saw us take on Copford in the final of the U14 Indoor League. Having won the toss and decided to bowl, we restricted the runs nicely. With a flurry of late wickets we kept Copford to 271.
We set about the chase in an assured manner, with a good solid batting display all round against a very good bowling attack. Resulting in us scoring 279 and winning the indoor league!!
A great way to end the winter season and put us in a good position to kick off our outdoor season at the end of April. The players should be really proud of themselves for the way they conducted themselves throughout the indoor season. Bring on the start of May and Abberton first up…
Huge thanks to all the supporters, coaches and players and last but not least our amazing Youth Manager Rumaan for his unwavering support to all the indoor teams this year.
